Human Resource Specialist - Gilmer, TX

Gillmer, TX Manufacturer is searching for a Human Resource Specialist. This position supports the Human Resources department by maintaining organizational policies and programs pertaining to employment law and compliance, recruitment, onboarding, organization development, training, workforce management, compensation, reward and benefits, labor relations, wellness, safety and risk management in union and non-union environments. Primary responsibility for employment law, talent acquisition and retention.

Duties &
Responsibilities:
Responsible for talent acquisition, including advertising, marketing, recruiting, selecting and orienting associates
Review and management of pre-employment requirements including, wage, reference, legal, criminal, medical checks
Prepares disciplinary documentation; monitoring, appraising, and reviewing new associate weekly reviews
Advises on employee relation issues in union and non-union environment.
Develops and maintains HR information systems to ensure compliance and support management statistical data reporting needs
Maintains records required by law or local governing bodies, or other official departments
Studies legislation, arbitration decisions, and collective bargaining contracts to understand industry trends and provide recommendations as required
Files timely responses for unemployment claims and appeals, as well as all other third party request for information
Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions
Analyzes and provides recommendations for compensation, reward and benefits to ensure competitive compensation plans
Accurate processing of all transactions relating to payroll and benefits, including garnishments, open enrollment etc.
Coordinates departmental training requirements
Participates in safety & wellness programs, including monthly lunch & learns, quarterly educational series, vision meetings, SHIELD observations, safety & wellness jackpot, toolbox training, visitor log preventative safety/health measures, annual health fairs etc.
Supports special projects by communicating and coordinating requirements, participating and evaluating milestone accomplishments
Participates in audits as required
Required
High School Graduate Mandatory
Degree in Human Resources Management, Business or related field and/or equivalent experience
5
years' experience in Product/Manufacturing environment preferred
Talent acquisition, recruitment, selection, assessments and retention (Strong Recruiting Experience)
Proficient Verbal and Written English Communication Skills
Familiarity with MRPII
Industrial Relations / Union Environment experience
THIS IS A DIRECT HIRE POSITIONEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
